    Self Centering Type Welding Rotators

Cubuilt Engineers’ Self Centering Type Welding Rotators are essential equipment for both heavy and light fabrication shops. They are primarily used to rotate or precisely position cylindrical workpieces for circumferential welding (TIG, MIG, Sub Arc) or for assembling intricate components.

    Construction and Design

The construction of Self Centering Type Welding Rotators is similar to that of Conventional Type Welding Rotators, with one key difference:

This model includes a provision to slide the roller brackets over the base frame equally in both directions via a lead screw with left-hand (LH) and right-hand (RH) threads.

Unlike conventional rotators, the roller brackets are not bolted to the base frame. This allows automatic centering of the workpiece, ensuring balanced rotation and reducing manual adjustments.

    Product Overview

    Precision-Built for Modern Welding

The Horizontal Type Welding Turntable has been specially designed to meet modern welding requirements, incorporating features essential for efficient and economic welding production. Its primary function is to bring the weldment to a convenient position or to rotate the joint at a pre-selected speed so that a quality weld can be achieved along the circumference.

The drive system uses an AC Motor (Prime Mover) with three-stage speed reduction — a double-reduction worm gearbox plus a spur pinion and spur gear arrangement. An AC Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) provides stepless speed variation across the full range at constant torque. The faceplate is supported on grease-packed anti-friction bearings with sufficient preloading to eliminate axial movement during operation.

    Engineering Excellence

    Core Technology

    AC VFD Control

Stepless speed variation throughout the full operating range at constant torque, enabling precise weld deposit control for any diameter workpiece.

    3-Stage Gear Reduction

Double-reduction worm gearbox paired with spur pinion and spur gear stages delivers high torque, quiet operation, and long service life.

    Anti-Friction Bearings

Grease-packed, preloaded anti-friction bearings support the faceplate, eliminating axial movement and ensuring a stable, vibration-free weld environment.

    Knowledge Base

What is a Horizontal Welding Turntable?

horizontal welding turntable is a motorized workholding device that rotates a weldment in the horizontal plane at a precisely controlled speed. Also referred to as a horizontal type welding turntable, faceplate turntable, or welding rotary table, it allows the welder or welding torch to remain stationary while the workpiece is continuously presented at the optimal joint position.

This design enables circumferential and fillet welds to be deposited consistently in the flat (downhand) welding position — the most favourable position for weld quality, deposition rate, and operator ergonomics. The result is a significant improvement in bead uniformity, reduced weld spatter, and faster production throughput compared to manual repositioning.

Cu-Built’s horizontal welding turntables are engineered with a three-stage gear reduction system and an AC Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for stepless speed variation, making them ideal for MIG, TIG, SAW (Submerged Arc Welding), and plasma welding processes across a wide range of workpiece diameters and weights.
